MS Flight to launch as free-to-play this spring
Flight sim "reconceived from the ground up," says Microsoft
The rebooted Flight's free-play portion will center around a detailed model of Hawaii's Big Island, fitted out with missions, challenges and hidden content for players to seek out. Further areas will be available for purchase. Microsoft promises the sim will deliver “a visually stunning and realistic representation of the earth, complete with region-specific weather patterns, foliage, terrain and landmarks.” The company also offers detailed interior/exterior models for a range of craft, again determined by how much players are willing to shell out for extra airplanes and customization extras.
While the game's set to feature in a playable demo at the Las Vegas CES later this month, Flight's website also offers in-game webisodes from the development team and the opportunity to sign up for the closed beta that will precede the game's Spring launch.
