Morgan Spurlock to direct 3D documentary on One Direction
Super Size Me director filming the boy band
Morgan Spurlock will direct the 3D documentary about boy band phenomenon, One Direction.
Yep, the man who once gorged on nothing but McDonald’s grub for Super Size Me , will follow around the former X-Factor contestants in a bid to “capture [ the band’s ] journey and share it with audiences around the world.”
Spurlock says the movie “will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of.” While his documentaries have always erred on the side of populist entertainment, but this’ll be his biggest swing to the mainstream yet.
In fact, so odd is the appointment of the anti-establishment filmmaker, we’re almost bracing ourselves for a cutting, subversive dissection of the modern pop machine, but we’d say that’s unlikely, given the fact Spurlock has Simon Cowell’s backing.
“Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it's like to be One Direction today,” said the X-Factor impresario.
The One Direction concert movie will open on 30 August 2013. We’re guessing this news will either be met with howls of pain or screams of excitement, with very little in between.
