Morena Baccarin bags Deadpool role
Deadpool has found its leading lady, with THRreporting that Homeland star Morena Baccarin has signed a deal to appear opposite Ryan Reynolds.
Baccarin had been thought to be one of the frontrunners to play the film’s female lead, although Taylor Schilling was a strong competitor, having also tested for the part.
Baccarin’s character has yet to be officially identified, although it is understood that she will serve as love interest for the titular mercenary. Hopefully she’ll have a bit more to get her teeth into than that, though…
The news of Baccarin’s involvement comes hot on the heels of Gina Carano’s unveiling as supporting character Angel Dust, with the project seemingly picking up pace ahead of an imminent start date.
Directed by Tim Miller, Deadpool will open in the UK and the US on 12 February 2016.
