More familiar faces sign on for X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past recruitment drive continues apace, with a trio of familiar faces all signing on to reprise their roles from the original trilogy.

Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore have all been confirmed for the new film, with Singer taking to Twitter to announce the news.

“Thank you @BrettRatner for letting them live!” said Singer, making reference to the director of X-Men: The Last Stand , who wasn’t shy about dispensing with some other key characters.

Paquin and Ashmore will continue to play star-crossed lovers Rogue and Iceman, while Ellen Page will return as Kitty Pryde. You might remember her being chased by Vinnie Jones in a muscle-suit last time out…

The character played a fairly pivotal role in the source comic, so Page's reappearance suggests that Singer could be cleaving closely to that story.

Co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, X-Men: Days Of Future Past will open in the UK on 18 July 2014.
