Diablo Cody to script Evil Dead reboot
Raimi: “We can’t wait to scare a new generation”
Just yesterday it was announced that newbie director Federico Alvarez would be helming the Evil Dead reboot.
Today, Sam Riami’s production company Ghost House Pictures have confirmed it, while revealing more about who’s involved in the project.
Apparently, Alvarez impressed Raimi with his short film Panic Attack , and wrote the reboot script alongside Rodo Sayagues.
Relatively more experienced Jennifer's Body writer Diablo Cody is now having a stab at the screenplay, giving it a buff up (and no doubt shoving in a few tongue-twisters of her own).
“We are committed to making this movie and are inspired by the enduring popularity and enthusiasm for the Evil Dead series,” say producers Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell.
“We can’t wait to scare a new generation of moviegoers using filmmaking techniques that were not available to us thirty years ago as well as Fede bringing a fresh eye to the film’s original elements.”
The only bit of bad news? It seems that series star Campbell is only involved so far in a producing capacity – but you can bet he’ll pitch up in a well-timed cameo.
