Monday is Halo 3 day

Doing anything Monday night? You are now. Aswe reported previously, the second trailer for the third coming of Halo will debut the evening of December 4, Super Bowl-style, during the broadcast of Monday Night Football on ESPN.

Microsoft and developer Bungie won't divulge an exact airing time, only a half-hour window of 5:50 to 6:20 PM Pacific Standard, so you may have to watch some actual football and - gasp! - other advertising while waiting for that precious 60 seconds of footage. Don't be alarmed if you suddenly develop unexplained cravings for cheap beer, expensive body spray or heroically patriotic pickup trucks.

It also bears repeating that the teaser will not show any real gameplay footage, as it was produced by an outside 3D animation studio as more of an "inspired by" mini movie (think the "Mad World" Gears of War commercials). Bungie does hint that it will reveal aspects of gameplay, however... cue the obsessive, over analytical buzzing of the internet.

Above: This shot is from the upcoming trailer and not the actual game.

Monday is also important for Halo 3 fans as it will be the first day you can head to theofficial websiteand register to take part in the Spring 2007 multiplayer beta. No word yet on how many applicants they're taking, but if you're interested in getting your hands on aSpartan Laser, Mongoose or spiked grenadeearly, we'd suggest sending them your details sooner rather than later.
