Heavy Rain... as a playable text adventure

Heavy Rain is out this week on PS4. The six year-old PlayStation exclusive has been given a new-gen haircut, making it slightly more miserable than it was originally. To celebrate its re-release, I rummaged around in the 12DOVE feature bin and found this little gem from a few years ago where I actually made a scene from Heavy Rain as a playable text adventure. And guess what... it still actually works.

You can play the Lizard Challenge RIGHT NOW. Go on, give it a go.

There are instructions on how to play at the start of the game. I know you like to skip tutorials, but this one is worth a quick read. This scene from Heavy Rain took me about 6-7 hours to build, and there are bound to be problems. If you encounter any bugs, just let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to fix them once I've helped my mate Sisyphus roll his boulder up the hill. Below is a video of the actual scene to show you what is possible. With the exception of a little artistic license, I've done my best to duplicate everything in the video...

Feeling brave? You can create your own text adventures at textadventures.co.uk.
