Why you can trust 12DOVE
Here we are, faced with another licensed-up-to-the-eyeballs baseball title. The game’s stuffed with real teams, players and stats, and there are hundreds of slight but fan-pleasing unlockables. In terms of presentation generally, in fact, there’s not a lot wrong here – the music’s suitably pumped-up, there are plenty of commentary samples and everything looks okay.
The controls are sensible but it’s hard to recreate the feel of baseball with a few button presses. Victory is mostly down to timing your button prods; the only tactical thinking required is deciding what to do with your men on the bases. That said, the pitching mechanic is quite neat. The lack of multiplayer’s a shame, as the batter vs pitcher idea would be suited to Wi-Fi play.
