MLB 07: The Show
After a stellar season, Sony's baseball game is again swinging for the fences
Pitches themselves are more skewed to their hurler's skills. A meter will show which pitch in the arsenal is more accurate, and it will switch at random - forcing you to get to know them all. Another variable to consider is who the umpire is. These grumpy old men now have different personalities, which reflects in the size of your strike zone. Get to know their temperament, or you could be walking guys all game long.
Defense is important, but you need to put points on the scoreboard. It may feel like the pitcher and catcher are ganging up on you, but MLB 07 gives batters the advantage of swing analysis. This shows why you hit nothing but air, monitoring your aim and timing. Provided you get on base, this game features some intuitive base-running - utilizing the left analog stick.
For single swingers, MLB 07 brings back The Show mode, where you put the "i" in "team" as a minor-league prospect working his way up to the bigs. Instead of playing full games, The Show is broken up into bite-sized segments. You'll take your player's at-bats, but also do a little fielding. Goals accompany games, and achieving them results in attribute points to boost your stats. Gamers who get bored going nine innings will definitely embrace this mode.
