Looks like JJ Abrams really is pushing Mission: Impossible 4 ahead - he's hired two writers who used to work for him on Alias.
No, it's not Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman (they're far too busy producing other movies and coming up with ideas for Star Trek 2): it's far lesser known scribes Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec.
The pair served for four years running the writers' room on Abrams' spy show and they've worked with their old boss on a story outline for the new film.
"I've been looking forward to working with Josh and Andre again for years," Abrams tells Variety "Their sense of balance between character and action is wonderful, which I know is hugely important to Tom as well. We're off to an exciting start, so, as usual, fingers crossed."
Little else is known about the film, though Abrams and Tom Cruise are definitely on board as producers and the Cruiser is likely to appear as Ethan Hunt.
Whether he actually goes out on the mission itself is another matter - we could see him acting as mentor to a brand new team.
We want him as a Spottswoode-style figure, forever sliding about on a chair and spouting stuff like, "You top gun maverick!" But that's just us...
