Minecraft finally arriving on Wii U next week

The blocky world builder has taken its time coming to Nintendo but Minecraft will finally be available on Wii U from December 12th. Announced on Mojang's Blog, the game will be available on the Nintendo eShop and come with multiple content packs. These include the Battle & Beasts skin packs one and two, the Natural Texture pack and City and Fantasy Texture pack. Even the Festive Mash-up pack is in there to help you bring in the holiday season in blocky style. There will also be 16 extra content packs available as DLC.

"We’ll be adding more content packs to Wii U Edition in the near future (Wa-hoo!), and updating the core game with free updates, just like our other platforms," says Mojang's Owen Hill. "As a quick reminder: all DLC packs are optional. You can have significant amounts of fun playing Minecraft without spending extra cash."

The Wii U edition will have off-TV play so TV starved family members can actually get to watch terrible Christmas movies instead of even more blocks. Also, far more interestingly is that Nintendo and Mojang will be collaborating on 'new content for Nintendo fans to be released at a future date.' As the company as been revealing skins for Star Wars and Mass Effect, it might not be too long before we see Nintendo characters get the same treatment. A Mario skin on every console with Minecraft? Stranger things have happened...
