Miiverse now live on your web browser
3DS version scheduled for this year
Wii U social network Miiverse is now accessible from browsers. Point your computer or mobile device here to give it a shot, but keep in mind that the beta version can only view and "Yeah!" posts--submitting content is still on the drawing board.
Nintendo (and now Nintendo of America) CEO Satoru Iwata said, in his financial results briefing, that this look into the gaming-centric network could showcase the system's merits to outsiders. Nintendo hopes to bring in some converts, as well, when Miiverse goes live on the thriving Nintendo 3DS platform sometime this year.
Convincing customers they need a Wii U in their lives has been a "grand challenge," Iwata said.
"Some have the misunderstanding that Wii U is just Wii with a pad for games, and others even consider Wii U GamePad as a peripheral device connectable to Wii," Iwata said. "We feel deeply responsible for not having tried hard enough to have consumers understand the product."
Several major Wii U titles will receive release dates during E3--even though the company is adjusting its presence there. Iwata hopes to change the system's outlook by releasing games people want to play.
"As a decisive factor in buying a console is that you cannot play a much-anticipated title without the hardware, we will do our best to have you feel from this summer to the end of this year that there are plenty of great games for Wii U."

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
