Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes lets players build bases from their phones
Kojima says any future MGS multiplayer will likely be developed in U.S.
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will build on the base construction and potentially the weapons development of predecessor Peace Walker. Series creator Hideo Kojima revealed a few new aspects of the open-world stealth game at the Eurogamer Expo today, and also indicated that players will be able to maintain their home bases on the go.
"Nowadays there are various ways to access the game world — you're not just playing in your living room on your games console," Kojima continued. "You may also access through your cell phone and other devices and still access that same game. I think in that respect that motherbase system lends itself very well to that system, and that's something we're planning on for Ground Zeroes."
Players will be able to explore their bases in-game after a quick helicopter ride back from the field. Kojima hinted that the equipment research and development system featured in Peace Walker could also play into the game, but that it is only conceptual at this point.
GamesIndustry International reports Kojima also said at the expo that any further Metal Gear competitive multiplayer aspects will likely be developed in the U.S. He said Metal Gear Online did not find nearly as much success internationally as it did in Japan, which he hopes to avoid in the future by entrusting development duties to the still-coalescing Los Angeles Kojima Productions studio.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
