Metal Gear Solid gets Unreal Engine 4 remake called 'Shadow Moses'
You know when you don’t even know you want something, and then you hear about it, and then you realise it’s suddenly the one thing you want more than everything else you ever wanted? Like Black Cherry Vanilla Coke? That’s exactly the way we feel on discovering that the original Metal Gear Solid is being remade using Unreal Engine 4.
Entitled Shadow Moses, the project promises to let you “relive the era-defining classic once again in beautiful next-gen environments”. The trailer is best watched than described, and will instantly whet your appetite to again control Snake from the series' outset, this time without having to scramble around under the telly to find Meryl’s codec on the back of the game box.
“The first objective of this project was to recreate just the Shadow Moses environments and make a "museum game" to those who wanted to explore the base with current technology,” says creator Airam Hernandez on the game's Facebook page. “My surprise was that after a few weeks, everybody was talking about it! So many online magazines started writing articles and I received a lot of messages offering help and support. That's the reason I decided to remake the entire game!”
More than 10,000 people have ‘liked’ Hernandez’s project on Facebook, with the trailer amassing 40,000 views after going live on Sunday. A Konami representative replied “no comment” when GR asked for the company’s stance on the project.
Props to VG247 for the original spot.

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
