Meryl Streep attached to Dewey
The true-life story of an iconic library cat
Bringing yet more proof that cute animals will always make enticing subjects for films, Meryl Streep is attached to star in Dewey, the tale of a beloved library mascot.
Variety reports that New Line has optioned Vicki Myron’s book Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched The World.
Streep wants to play the author, who saw the impact that the kitten had when it wandered into a library in Iowa and became the building’s mascot.
Pamela Gray writing the script
A Walk On The Moon scribe Pamela Gray has been hired to adapt the book for the screen.
Frankly, we’re not sure what all the fuss is about. I mean, how cute can one cat be? Look at the book’s cover, you say? Oh, look at the little puddy tat! He’s so sweet! Ahem. We mean, yeah, whatever.
