Men In Black reboot sheds Will Smith
Sony is planning to reboot another of its most lucrative franchises without one of its original stars. THR reports that the team behind Men In Black is pushing forward with a brand new cinematic franchise based on the popular '90s movies about government agents tasked with policing the extraterrestrials hiding on Earth.
Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, both of whom worked on the original flicks, were asked by the outlet whether or not a Men In Black reboot was on the cards in light of the recent change in Sony brass. "We're in the middle of it, it's very active," said Parkes before he confirmed what we already suspected - Will Smith won't be a part of it.
The existence of a new reboot raises plenty of questions. Namely, what does this spell for the rumored Men In Black-Jump Street crossover that all involved parties seemed rather excited about? Neither producer mentioned that concept, although MacDonald did reveal that the forthcoming film "will be reinvented as a trilogy." It's never just the one reboot, is it?
