Matthew McConaughey talks Christopher Nolan's Interstellar

Matthew McConaughey could be on the brink of Oscar glory, and his year is set to get even better when he takes the lead in Christopher Nolan's new film, Interstellar .

McConaughey has been discussing the new film with Variety , and sounds a little bit in awe of Nolan and the way he goes about his business…

"Here’s what I can tell you, It’s the most ambitious thing he’s ever done," says McConaughey. "And he’s done some ambitious stuff…"

"There’s no fucking around on set," he continues. "He’s a great problem solver. In that way, he’s very indie. Here’s a guy who could have whatever budget he wants - and we finished shooting early."

And as for how his casting came about, it sounds as though the process was very informal indeed…

"He came up to me and said, ' Mud . I love that movie.’ I sat down with him for about 2½ hours at his house. Not one word came up about Interstellar . I walked out not sure what to think. I mean, he’s not a guy who takes general meetings!"

Directed by Nolan and co-starring Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck and many more, Interstellar will open in the UK on 7 November 2014.
