Matthew McConaughey not returning for Magic Mike XXL
Gregory Jacobs says sequel will be very different
Matthew McConaughey will not be returning for stripper sequel Magic Mike XXL , as director Gregory Jacobs claims the film will be very different from its predecessor.
With McConaughey’s slate positively groaning with offers, it always seemed unlikely that he’d be returning for round two, and Jacobs has now confirmed that that will be the case.
As to what we can expect to see from the new film, the director went on to stress that it will be something of a departure from the formula that served the original so well…
“What am I allowed to say?” he begins. “It’s a road trip movie and put it this way, it’s different enough that once you see it you’ll understand why we made a sequel. No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice.”
With original director Steven Soderbergh on cinematography duties, and Channing Tatum ready to disrobe once more, Magic Mike XXL will open in the UK on 7 August 2015.
