Mass Effect Andromeda is delayed to early 2017

You can salute goodbye to those Mass Effect Andromeda flavoured hopes for 2016, an EA financial presentation has outed an early 2017 release window for the Bioware sequel. At a Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference - yes, sounds delightful, doesn't it? - EA's Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen revealed that the game won't be out until the company's Q4. We previously had a pre-Christmas slot confirmed but it's no surprise that this is moving into 2017.

EA's quarter set up, as you can see in its earnings releases here, sees its 3rd quarter finishing in December so Q4 is a solid Jan - March window. In a quote recorded on Neogaf, Jorgenson doesn't just confirm Mass Effect's release but also cements Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 5 for pre-Christmas launches.

"We've got a great year ahead. We've got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter, and our third-party title that Respawn, our partner, built, it's called Titanfall. It's the second title that they brought into that brand," he said. "Both of those are first-person shooters and will be targeted around the fast, action-driven shooter market, as well as the strategy-driven market in that quarter..."

Continuing with words that manage to turn the fun of games into money speak, he then confirmed Andromeda's shift. "We have our Mirror's Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we're pretty excited."
