Marvel's Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus features explained
Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode includes Ultimate Levels, Golden Gadgets, Suit Tech Fusion, and more
The much-anticipated Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode is now available, and it has brought a whole load of fresh features to the adventures of Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Players can now convert their completed game saves into NG+ versions, to replay the main story while keeping all of their existing unlocks, upgrades, and collectibles intact. This opens up more opportunities in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, whether it's replaying the whole game on a harder difficulty or just revisiting some key plot points along the way. If you're ready to return to New York City, then here's everything you need to know about New Game Plus in Spider-Man 2 and what's been added with it.
How to access Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode
To access Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode, you first need to have finished the main story. If you haven't done that yet then don't stress too much, as although we've pegged the Spider-Man 2 length at about 30 hours that includes doing everything, so the actual story itself can be completed in a lot less time. When you hover over a save slot with the main story finished you'll see a message pop up in the bottom right corner of the screen, telling you that you now qualify for New Game Plus and if you follow the prompt then you'll create a fresh New Game+ save file – this will be separate from your existing save, so you don't have to worry about anything being overwritten.
What's added in the Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus mode?
Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus gives you access to a number of new features, as well as additional items to unlock as you progress through it. As well as being able to replay the game on a harder difficulty (including Ultimate difficulty) while still keeping all of your unlocked suits and abilities, you can now level up past Level 60 to reach Ultimate Levels, which provide additional Styles for your Spider-Man 2 suits. There are also enhancements for your Spider-Man 2 skills, abilities, gadgets and suit tech, including Golden Gadget styles to purchase, and Suit Tech Fusion which allows both mods in a Suit Mod Group to be equipped at once to make your Spider-Man even more powerful. On top of all that, Mission Replay and Time of Day options can be accessed through the menu, to revisit your favorite quests and customise how the world around you appears.
Speaking of suits, there are also fresh Suit Styles available for a selection of Peter's symbiote story suits, plus new Marvel's Hellfire Gala suits for both Peter and Miles. On top of that, Insomniac Games, Marvel Games, and Gameheads have partnered to create the Fly N' Fresh suits (pictured above), and those Marvel's Spider-Man 2's new suits are getting Barbie and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air comparisons from fans. These are initially available as DLC for $4.99 / £3.99 with 100% of that price being donated to Gameheads, but don't worry if that isn't an option for you as the "Fly N' Fresh Suit Pack will be available for at no additional cost to all players at a later date" according to the PlayStation Blog.
