Ms. Marvel
Played by: Sandra Saad
Ability: Polymorph
Kamala Khan could be considered the main character in Marvel's Avengers, because the story starts off with her exploring the Avengers Day festivities before it all kicks off. She eventually grows into Ms. Marvel as she reunites the Avengers before the team save the world.
Ms. Marvel's skills revolve around her Polymorph ability which allows her to grow parts of her body, increasing her strength. She can also dodge incoming attacks this way, along with her Embiggen ability which increases her overall size, becoming a pseudo-Hulk.
Iron Man
Played by: Nolan North
Abilities: Flight, super strength, laser weapons
The man, the myth, the legend... Tony Stark is playable in Avengers, because of course he is. Iron Man can fly, use ranged and melee weapons, and ultimately cause some serious destruction. He's just as charismatic as he is in the films and while he might not have Robert Downey Jr.'s face, he embodies the movie version perfectly.
Tony Stark himself may not have any natural superpowers, but his Iron Man suit is a very acceptable substitute. He can fly at high speeds, fire powerful repulsor beams and rockets, hold his own in a melee fight... he's arguably the most versatile of the Avengers, something that is well represented in-game.
Hulk
Played by: Darin De Paul (Bruce Banner is voiced by Troy Baker)
Abilities: Super strength, enrage
The Green Giant is front and centre once again, with the unique ability of being able to leap from wall to wall — but only if that wall is scratched to hell and back, of course. You'll meet and play as Hulk in his Bruce Banner form too, although he's not quite as good at smashing enemies like that.
As you'd expect, Hulk has one trick up his sleeve, and it's a pretty good one; he can grow in size and smash enemies to smithereens. All of his in-game heroics represent his super strength, so get ready to brawl as you steamroll through countless puny enemies.
Black Widow
Played by: Laura Bailey
Abilities: Pistols, invisibility, melee combat
While Black Widow's abilities may pale on paper to the rest of the team, she's one of the most enjoyable to use and more than pulls her own weight. She's got a wide array of abilities that suit different playstyles — more diverse than most — with guns, invisibility, defensive moves, and more.
Like Tony Stark, Natasha Romanov also doesn't possess any inherent superpowers, but that doesn't stop her from being badass. She can dual wield pistols, turn invisible, swing around on a grappling hook, and even use a shock arrow to stagger enemies. She's got a range of tools and she certainly knows how to use them.
Thor
Played by: Travis Willingham
Abilities: Flight, Mjolnir, super strength, interdimensional travel
Yep, Asgard's finest is here too. Thor is the first of the Avengers you'll run into during the game's opening mission, with a wholesome back and forth between him and the next character on the list. In missions, Mjolnir (Thor's big ol' hammer) is as destructive as you'd imagine, and it's always satisfying clearing multiple enemies with one throw.
Thor is essentially a god, so as you'd expect, he is powerful. He can fly in a similar manner to Iron Man, he can launch Mjolnir like a boomerang, and he can even travel to another dimension with his ultimate before coming back to Earth with devastating effect. Arguably the outright strongest of the Avengers.
Captain America
Played by: Jeff Schine
Abilities: Super strength, Cap's Shield, healing
Captain America is very much a ground based pounder, relying on fists and flips to deal with enemies up close. He does some ranged options via his shield throw but he lacks the mobility and distance of some other characters. However, his Rally Cry ability, which boosts everyone's Heroic recharge, means he can work well as support when used well.
Hawkeye
Played by: TBC
Abilities: TBC
Hawkeye has featured prominently in the Avengers movies, but he's not a launch character in the game. Instead, players on every platform can grab Hawkeye as a DLC character, coming at some point post-release. Keep your eyes peeled.
Kate Bishop
Played by: TBC
Abilities: TBC
Where would Hawkeye be without Kate Bishop? As you'd expect, she's also not available yet and is slated to arrive when Hawkeye does. We don't know a whole lot about the abilities for either character but expect a lot of archery to be involved.
Black Panther
Played by: TBC
Abilities: TBC
Crystal Dynamics' tribute to Chadwick Boseman — the Black Panther actor who tragically passed away shortly before the release of the game — was shown during a launch week War Table presentation. We didn't see footage of the character in action, likely out of respect, but we're expecting to play as Black Panther in Marvel's Avengers later down the line.
Other heroes
Plenty more characters have been leaked and are expected to feature in the post-launch plans too, including Wasp, Vision, Dr Strange, Captain Marvel, Mockingbird, and more. Crystal Dynamics has said it wants Avengers to last for years, so let's hope the increasing roster size helps provide longevity.
