Marvel’s Avengers: Choose your hero - Iron Man

As one of the founding members of the Avengers, Iron Man was at the forefront of the A-Day celebrations, eager to unveil the group’s new headquarters in California. Never one to shy away from the limelight, he’d just taken to the stage as the city of San Francisco was attacked.

It was on that fateful day that he’d see his own creations — weapons and technology meant to better protect humanity —  turned against him and the other heroes. Although the Avengers were able to fight back against those laying siege to the Golden Gate Bridge, this would turn out to be a distraction from the main event. The real target was, in fact, the Chimera Helicarrier. Not even Iron Man could prevent what would happen next.

In the aftermath of A-Day, superheroes have now been outlawed across the globe and Stark Industries shut down, leaving Tony Stark little choice but to go into hiding. We don’t know where he is, or what he’s planning, but it’s a sure bet that when Iron Man finally returns, it’ll be with a fiery vengeance.

Aside from being a playboy billionaire philanthropist, Tony Stark is also one of the most gifted inventors of his time. The Iron Man armour is perhaps his greatest achievement, giving him the ability to fight alongside thunder gods and green-skinned behemoths as an equal.

In combat, Iron Man is an adept fighter in close quarters, but he really shines when he’s able to combine those melee attacks with a wide variety of artillery. Between his repulsors, laser beams and rocket batteries, he brings a lot of different options to each fight and is one of the Avengers’ greatest damage dealers.

He’s also perfectly suited for very quickly moving around an environment, thanks to his suit’s hover ability and, of course, its flight mode. If an enemy unit is rushing to grab a control point, or pressuring another member of your squad, Iron Man is usually able to intercept them within just a few moments.

And when things are looking especially tough, there’s always the HulkBuster. Iron Man’s ultimate ability sees him summon a giant suit of armour, designed to stand up to the Hulk himself, so you know it’s powerful. Better yet, this armour doesn’t have to be used by Tony Stark. If you’re feeling generous, you can summon the HulkBuster into the fray and then allow someone else on your squad to use it instead. Sharing is caring when you’re in the Avengers.
