Marvel’s Avengers: Choose your hero - Hulk
Big, mean and green, the Hulk isn’t known for his subtlety. He’s the type of Super Hero that would prefer to throw himself into the middle of the action and figure out the rest along the way. Most of the bad guys tend to stop causing trouble if he hits them enough times, in his experience.
But on A-Day, something was different. The Hulk and the other Avengers found themselves distracted, fighting to reclaim the Golden Gate Bridge as the real threat manifested elsewhere. By the time they’d realised what was happening, it was too late for San Francisco and the city paid the ultimate price for their failure.
Bruce Banner was crushed by the guilt of what happened that day, even going so far as to testify against the Avengers in the following trial. His admission of guilt would be the final nail in the coffin for the team, leading to their eventual exile.
If it wasn’t for Kamala Khan, Bruce may never have recovered from that. She tracked him down and convinced him to reassemble the Avengers and prove their innocence, having grown increasingly suspicious of those who had benefited the most from the group’s demise.
And it’s not just Bruce’s intellect that’ll be required for what’s next. They’ll also be needing a set of skills that only the Hulk himself can provide.
In combat, Big Green is a force of nature. Leaping across open spaces, players controlling this hero are often encouraged to be the first into the fray.
Careful use of the Rage Meter will help keep the big man alive, as you dish out increased damage at the same time. When things start becoming a little overwhelming (and that can happen quite a bit when playing this character), a well-aimed thunderclap should clear the field and buy you a little extra time.
Aside from causing utter chaos, the Hulk is also great for immobilising individual targets. As long as your opponent isn’t too large, you’ll be able to grab them with a single hand and then proceed to smash them into the ground, or even use them as a weapon against other foes.
There are some ranged opportunities too as you’ll grab literal chunks of earth to fling at distant opponents, or with the right upgrade, that can be improved to have the Hulk pick up a boulder the size of a Toyota Yaris. He’s still at his best when in the middle of a melee, but it’s certainly nice to have the option to hit back from more of a distance.
