Marvel films and TV shows will eventually get a crossover

For some time now, the larger events within Marvel's cinematic universe have only been subtly referenced throughout the comic giant's many TV series. The Hell's Kitchen in which Daredevil takes place is reeling from the devastation caused by The Avengers/Chitauri incident, and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. picks up in the aftermath of Captain America: The Winter Soldier's final act. The movies themselves don't extend that same courtesy, however, with most of the films in the MCU ignoring all events from their small-screen siblings.

According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, that's going to change in the future. “I think that’s inevitable at some point," he explained to Collider when asked about a crossover, "as we’re plotting the movies going forward and they’re doing the shows. The schedules don’t always quite match up to make that possible - it’s easier for them, they’re more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do," says Feige. "[That's] one of the main reasons you see the repercussions of Winter Soldier or Age of Ultron in the show.

"But going forward, and certainly as they do more shows and cast them with such great actors as they have - particularly in Daredevil - that may occur," says Feige. But the reality of it is, by the time we start doing a movie, they’d be midway through a season. Then by the time the movie comes out, they’d be done with the second and starting the third season, so finding timing on that is not always easy.”

As Marvel's stream of Netflix series continues to stir up attention, with Jessica Jones and Luke Cage due to land in the next year, it makes sense for a comic titan like Marvel to loop together its intricate screen worlds. It just might be a while before we see Kingpin square off against the likes of Tony Stark.
