Marvel auditioning teenage actors for Spider-Man?
It sounds as though the next Peter Parker is going to genuinely be of high-school age, with Badass Digest reporting that Marvel is actively seeking a teenage actor to play the new Spider-Man.
Despite the studio’s attempts to keep the casting process under wraps, the report claims that Marvel recently auditioned 16-year-old Weeds star Mateus Ward for the role.
There’s no word on whether or not Ward has managed to bag himself the role, but the fact that he was auditioning at all would appear to be a clear pointer towards the direction Marvel is looking to take the character…
With 31-year-old Andrew Garfield the last man to fill the Spidey suit, it looks like the rumour mill was correct and Marvel is indeed looking to cast an actor who can grow into the role over the coming years.
It is widely expected that the new Spider-Man will make his bow in Captain America: Civil War, as the Avengers become fundamentally divided over the superhero registration act. Directed by the Russo brothers, the film will arrive in the UK on 29 April 2016 and the US the following week.
