Mark Wahlberg interested in making The Fighter 2
“We’re gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy”
Mark Wahlberg missed out on any chance at an Oscar this year, despite giving a career-best performance in The Fighter . But the actor doesn’t seem to have noticed.
Word has it that the former underwear model is hoping to launch himself straight back into the world of boxer Micky Ward for a sequel.
“Now we’re gonna talk about doing number two,” Wahlberg tells Extra . “We’re gonna do the Ward/Gatti trilogy and make it real.”
Wahlberg is there referring to the real Ward’s fights with adversary Arturo Gatti, which are infamous thanks to their brutal, no-punches-pulled content.
With The Fighter having landed itself two Academy Awards over the weekend (one for Christian Bale, and one for Melissa Leo), not to mention its box office success (over $100m worldwide), we’re sure the Weinsteins would be keen for a follow-up.
