Margot Robbie says Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn is "creepy, violent, and crazy"

There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Suicide Squad, and Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn - the first live action appearance of the fan-favourite character - ranks high on that list. The actress has been talking to Cineplex about the role, and it's clear that she's having a blast walking a mile or two in Harley's shoes.

"Harley is creepy, violent, crazy — all of the things that I aspire to be! No. It’s the fun of living vicariously through someone who is doing things that I would never do in real life".

Robbie also talked about getting to reunite with her Focus co-star Will Smith, who will be playing Deadshot in Suicide Squad; "I enjoyed working with Will so, so much that I was overjoyed when I heard that we would be working together again".

"I actually texted him when I heard he was in negotiations to be in Suicide Squad and kept peer-pressuring him, ‘You’d better be taking this movie!’", she continued. "He obviously signed on for his own reasons, but I was so incredibly happy that we got to do Round Two. He’s awesome on set and awesome off set. He’s just a really, really good person".

The chemistry between Robbie and Smith in Focus was very evident, and their familiarity with one another no doubt served them well while they were filming Suicide Squad. With a new trailer due to arrive soon, here's hoping we get to see more of their new dynamic.

Directed by David Ayer and starring Smith, Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman, Suicide Squad will open in the UK and US on 5 August, 2016.
