Mapping out multiplayer
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s single player story may be the main draw, but the multiplayer action hasn't been overlooked.
Unfortunately, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has no support for clans, but the team does plan to fully support the modding community. Shortly after the game's retail release, the team at GSC plans to release the X-Ray modSDK. The software development kit will include a level editor, actor editor, shader editor, particle editor, export plug-ins for Maya and 3D Studio Max and a script debugger - a set of tools that should help major overhauls come on a regular basis. There are also plans to include complete art assets and models for one of the levels in order to serve as an example. In short, the modSDK should give players full control over the game environment.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s multiplayer is plenty of fun, but if you haven't yet checked out the in-depthA-Life systemor thesingle player combat, you're missing out. Budding stalkers should also be aware of thevarious factionsthat you'll have to deal with in the game as each has their own motivations driving their actions. Before you depart, it's probably a good idea to do some recon and learn about thereal-life Zone that inspired the game.
