Mandrake, Spidey 4 and zombies: its Wednesdays news round-up

SPIDEY!
Spider-Man 4 has a screenwriter. Superhero Hype is reporting that James Vanderbilt, who’s most recent script credit was David Fincher’s excellent true-life crime drama Zodiac, is on board for the webslinger’s next swing around the block. A piece of advice, Mr Vanderbilt: try to forget Spidey 3 ever happened. No confirmation yet on whether Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will be bringing his words to the screen.

MANDRAKE!
That master of magic spells and illusion, who makes enemies crumble in fear and confusion, is coming to the big screen, and he’s going to look like... Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Superhero Hype
says that the star of Match Point, The Tudors and those perfume ads is going to be donning the magic man’s garb in a film directed by Chuck “The Scorpion King” Russell.

ZOMBIES!
George A Romero’s latest, Diary of the Dead, is due out in 2008, but early buzz has been enough to earn a sequel. According to Sci Fi Wire , the gore veteran will start shooting the follow-up early next year. Seems you can’t keep the dead down for long...
