Warner Bros sign up a writer for the big screen version of the ’60s spy show
Warner Bros had hired Max Borenstein to write the latest draft of the long-gestating big screen remake of hi-tech ’60s spy show The Man From UNCLE , according to The Hollywood Reporter ’s Heat Vision Blog .
It’s a bit of a left-field choice, as Borenstein is best known for scripting docu-dramas such as History On Trial, which is about the holocaust, and JIMI, a biopic of Jimmy Hendrix. David ( Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus, Shanghai Knights ) Dobkin is currently on board to direct.
The original show, starring Robert Vaughn as spies Napoleon Solo and David McCallum as Illya Kuyiyakin, ran for four series from 1964. UNCLE stood for United Network Command for Law Enforcement and its evil rival was THRUSH – Technological Hierarchy for the Removal of Undesirables and the Subjugation of Humanity.
