Magic Mike sequel gets a director and new title
Are you ready for Magic Mike XXL?
Last week we brought you news that a sequel to Magic Mike is set to begin filming later this year, and now there are reports of a new director and title for the forthcoming project.
The Playlist claims that Greg Jacobs will be stepping behind the camera for the sequel, which is set to be titled Magic Mike XXL . A reference to the film’s duration, perhaps… or perhaps not.
Jacobs is a long-term collaborator of original director Steven Soderbergh, having worked as a producer and first assistant director on the first film.
It had originally been suggested that Channing Tatum might take up the directorial reins on the new film, but it now looks as though he’ll have to make do with writing, starring and producing instead.
With filming set to begin on the sequel in autumn of this year, we can probably expect Magic Mike XXL to appear in cinemas towards the end of next year, with an official announcement expected in the next few days.
