Kristin Scott Thomas is a highlight in this sophisticated Parisian drama from Pascal Bonitzer ( Small Cuts).
She’s Iva, a theatre director drifting apart from her lecturer husband Damien (a mournful-looking Jean-Pierre Bacri) and towards one of her actors.
Damien has his own issues, not least a fractured relationship with his pompous father.
But this is not entirely a melancholy mooch around middle-class malaise; there’s humour too, notably a sexual encounter with a Japanese waiter that shines a light on Damien’s teachings in Asian culture...
A pleasingly intelligent picture.
