Little Fockers bring in New Year

Narnia

Avatar was the reigning cat-alien of the box office this time last year. Which is sort of fitting, seeing as Ben Stiller dressed up as a Na’vi at last year’s Oscars.

Yep, Stiller and Robert De Niro were the New Year winners at the box office this weekend, retaining the top spot for the second week in a row with $26m.

Audiences just don’t seem to be able to get enough of those Fockers .

True Grit stuck to its guns in second place ($24m), though, refusing to move either way in the chart, while Tron: Legacy ($18m) and Yogi Bear ($13m) were close behind in third and fourth.

Voyage Of The Dawn Treader rounded out the top five with a not-to-be-spat-at $10.5m, though it’s still yet to hit that all important $100m total mark.

Tangled , meanwhile, had a surge from ninth place to sixth ($10m), while The Fighter slipped one spot to seventh ($10m), just like Gulliver’s Travels in eighth ($9.1m).

Black Swan and The King’s Speech closed out the top ten, the former taking a nutcracking $8.5m, the latter Colin Firth vehicle earning a quietly respectable $7.6m.
