Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum and Jessie Usher set for Independence Day 2
Independence Day 2 is making some serious casting moves, with THR reporting that newcomer Jessie Usher is set to head up the film as the son of Will Smith’s son.
The story was later confirmed via Twitter by director Roland Emmerich, who also revealed that Liam Hemsworth and the returning Jeff Goldblum are both on board too.
Hemsworth will play the son of Bill Pullman’s US President, with Pullman himself already confirmed to appear. Goldblum will reprise his role as computer whizz David Levinson.
At present, nothing has officially been confirmed story-wise, but Emmerich had previously hinted at a storyline in which the alien invaders return for a second crack at planet Earth, which sounds about right.
Directed by Emmerich, Independence Day 2 will open in the US on 24 June 2016, and the UK on 1 July 2016.
