Fox and Warner Bros. TV have joined forces to bring popular Vertigo comic, Lucifer, to the small screen. So far the proposed series has secured an order for a pilot, that will be directed by Underworld helmer Len Wiseman.
Wiseman, who’s enjoyed recent small screen success with Sleepy Hollow, will executive produce the one-hour drama along with Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Californication creator Tom Kapinos, who also penned the script.
The original comic series was created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg and revolved around Lucifer’s journey to L.A. wherein he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux. Sounds awesome, right?
However, it now appears that that unique concept won’t be included in the TV adaptation, as the formerly-hellbound fallen angel will undergo somewhat of a transformation. Deadline’s description of the new series, touted as a “police procedural” is as follows:
“Lucifer who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.”
