If you're planning a couch co-op session, then here's what you need to know about setting up local Lego Fortnite splitscreen mode.
Is there Splitscreen in Lego Fortnite?
When it first launched, there was no splitscreen or couch co-op mode available in Lego Fortnite, so if you wanted to play in co-op then you had to connect two systems via the internet. However, that has changed as of October 2024 and Lego Fortnite now has a splitscreen or couch co-op mode available, so you can play locally with a friend using only one device.
Thankfully, Lego Fortnite splitscreen is also relatively easy to set up, as you just need to choose an experience that supports it – look for the label that says '1-2 Local Players' above the Select button. Once the first player is in, connect the second controller then choose a profile to log in – note that the second player will need their own Epic Games account, linked to a PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account if playing on console, as Fortnite in general does not support guest accounts in any game modes.
Once both players are connected to Lego Fortnite splitscreen, you'll see a prompt at the bottom of the lobby screen for Player 2 to Take Control, so they can access their own locker to change outfits, check their progress through the current Fortnite quests, and anything else they need to do. When you're all set, hit the READY! prompt and you'll be taken to your chosen experience, with the screen split horizontally so you can work together or go and do your own thing.
