The Last of Us multiplayer confirmed
Pre-order bonuses hint at online mode mechanics
The Last of Us will star at least A Few of Us, as Naughty Dog has confirmed the PlayStation 3 exclusive will feature a multiplayer mode. The PlayStation blog post from Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer disclosed few details about the mode aside from those which can be gleaned from its other reveal: pre-order bonuses.
Naughty Dog isn't ready to dish on the multiplayer yet, but it is ready to start selling it: the GameStop-exclusive Survival Pack provides bonus experience points, a melee attack booster, extra starting cash, and customizable character items for the multiplayer mode. Given the talk of experience points, boosters, and cash, it sounds like the multiplayer will take several cues from Uncharted 3, at least in terms of higher-level systems.
Meanwhile, GameStop and non-GameStop pre-orderers alike will receive the Sights and Sounds Pack, which comes with The Last of Us' official soundtrack, a dynamic theme, and PlayStation Network avatars of main characters Joel and Ellie.
The Last of Us will release on May 7, 2013.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
