Here's another news story assuring you that The Last Guardian is definitely not canceled. Is this beginning to sound a little repetitive? Well perk your ears back up, because what project director Fumito Ueda said this time was actually a bit more interesting than "we're working on it".
In an interview with Dengeki PlayStation translated by Kotaku, Ueda chose The Last Guardian as his most memorable PlayStation game, owing to its difficult development - which is saying something, since he also led work on Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Then he mentioned that change is afoot for the game which was first announced in 2009.
“Talks with Sony Computer Entertainment on The Last Guardian have been ironed out, and we’re making progress under completely new conditions," Ueda said. "I’m also working on some other things that I’ll hopefully be able to show in time if progress is smooth.”
It seems safe to say that Sony Computer Entertainment won't release the game on PS3 at this point, though no one has explicitly said it's moved over to PS4. Is that part of the 'new conditions' Ueda mentioned? Once again, a Last Guardian status update raises more questions than it answers. At least the heartwarming story of a boy and his dog-bird-dragon thing may yet release on some kind of PlayStation hardware.
