Konami apologises for PES 2014 online problems

Konami says it’s working closely with Microsoft to fix an issue that’s left owners of the Xbox 360 version of PES 2014 unable to play the game online since its release on September 20. Users are required to download a data pack before taking the game online, but they’re currently receiving a 'Download File is Broken' message when trying to do so.

The Japanese publisher says it is "dedicated to providing the best possible gameplay experience to its users, and is working closely with Microsoft to solve the issue", with an update on its progress expected to be delivered later today.

Konami Digital Entertainment president Shinji Hirano has also apologised to fans of the series frustrated by the issue: "We would like to apologise to any users who have been unable to enjoy PES 2014 online and would like to reassure fans we'll be fixing the issue as quickly as possible. In the meantime we're setting up a special section on the PES 2014 site to keep users up to date on issues, feedback and general help with the product. Our customer support team is also providing as much personal support as possible."

In our PES 2014 review, we concluded: “The moments of fluid football where you feel completely at one with the game are better than FIFA. But all the strides forward in ball control are undone by the game seemingly doing everything it can to take true control away from you, leaving you with the feeling that PES 2014 is more about simulating football than it is about you playing it.”
