Kim Dickens will star in Walking Dead spin-off series
The Walking Dead’s forthcoming companion series has landed itself a leading lady, with Deadline reporting that Gone Girl star Kim Dickens will head up the new show.
The new show (working title, Cobalt) will be set against the backdrop of the same zombie apocalypse depicted in the original series, but will be set during a slightly different time, and in different parts of the country.
Dickens will play a guidance counsellor who is in a relationship with Cliff Curtis’s divorced teacher, while Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam-Carey will star as their respective children.
According to the report, Dickens’ character, “looks like the girl next door but has a darkness to her, a troubled past that will come back to haunt her.” Provided the zombies don’t get her first, of course…
The pilot will be directed by Adam Davison and is expected to go into production in early 2015, after which AMC will make a call on whether or not to order a full series.
