Bloated on blockbusters? Try flushing this Aussie indie through your system. A Borat-style shakey-cam mock-doc, the Jacobson brothers’ film lifts the lid on plumber Kenny Smyth (co-writer Shane Jacobson), who mends loos for Melbourne portable toilet provider Splashdown (a real firm who lent their, um, facilities). The story strains to reach feature length, but its lead ensures you won’t get a sore bum: from his childlike wonder at a Nashville portaloo expo, to his tender efforts to build bridges with his estranged son and ailing dad, Jacobson’s a disarming, pithy presence. You won’t bust a gut, but it pleases that a film about shit is anything but.
