Keira Knightley starring in Never Let Me Go
Mark Romanek’s cloning thriller
Keira Knightley is joining Andrew Garfield and Sundance sensation Carey Mulligan in Mark Romanek’s new thriller, Never Let Me Go.
Based on a script from 28 Days Later scribe Alex Garland, the pic follows three people who grew up in an isolated boarding school and had no contact with the outside world.
But then one day they discover that – surprise! – they’re actually just clones, originally grown in a lab for organ donation.
It’ll start filming this April in London and Norfolk and… Hang on, isn’t this just The Island again?
Isolated people growing up together with no outside contact. Check. Finding out they’re clones for organ donation. Gotcha. Aside from a few other details, the plots sound identical.
Yet Garland is working from Kazuo Ishiguro’s 2005 novel, so it’s not like this was spontaneously generated after The Island arrived.
And hopefully this won’t be a Brit-buster version of a Michael Bay film. Anyone for slow car crashes on the M25?
