Kate Mara stars in first Captive trailer
The first trailer has appeared online for Captive, Jerry Jameson's religious drama in which Kate Mara's single mother turns to her faith in order to extricate herself from a hostage situation orchestrated by David Oyelowo's escaped criminal.
The film is based on a true story, in which Mara's character read to her captor from The Purpose Driven Life, a book written by the evangelical Christian author Rick Warren. Using Warren's teachings, she set about searching for a non-violent way to solve the situation, forging a human connection into the bargain.

Mara and Oyelowo look suitably compelling here, although there is an obvious risk of this one coming off like a 90-minute advert for Warren's book. Still, if you're going to do a "message movie", you may as well rope in a couple of A-listers to head up the cast. Co-starring Mimi Rogers and Michael K. Williams, Captive will open in the US on 18 September 2015, with a UK date to be confirmed.
