Jumanji concept art shows off Dwayne Johnson's Indiana Jones-style hero

While the world wasn't asking for a new Jumanji movie, we're getting one that looks a heck of a lot of fun. Delayed sequels are a little hit and miss (ahem, ID Resurgence) so it's lucky that Jumanji's got franchise viagra Dwayne Johnson attached to star. He's bringing his friendly giant vibe to the upcoming film, and we've now got a first look at his character in this spot of concept art:

Well hello, Dr, Jones! I mean, Bravestone. Yes, Johnson certainly does smolder and borrows quite a bit of his too-cool look from Indiana Jones. It's a great hat tip (ahem) to the action star archaeologist. The general feel of the pic hints at more of an old-school adventure, that I'm excited for as Johnson's got charisma oozing from every pore. I'd watch him in anything.

As for Jumanji's story, Johnson describes the movie as a "continuation" of the story that's most definitely not a reboot. It's set to pick up a while after the 1995 Robin Williams-starrer, with plans to honor the late comedian.

Directed by Jake Kasdan and starring Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas, Jumanji will be released in cinemas on July 28, 2017.
