Julia Roberts stars in first trailer for Secret In Their Eyes remake
The first trailer has dropped for the English language remake of Secret In Their Eyes, starring Julia Roberts as an FBI investigator whose life is turned upside down when her daughter's body is discovered. Along with her partner played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, she pledges to bring her child's killer to justice - but that may take longer than she expects.
Nicole Kidman rounds out the main cast as a straight-talking District Attorney, in what's a slightly amended version of Juan Jose Campanella's Argentine original. The story beats differ enough to cater to mainstream audiences, and with that A-list headlining cast it's already a strong awards contender. Check out the trailer below.
That brooding edge to Roberts' performance (aided by no make-up or access to hair brush) indicates the film could be hoping to replicate the Oscar-winning success of the original. While many have wondered why a remake of a perfect film was necessary, writer-director Billy Ray appears to have a few twists up his sleeve...
Secret In Their Eyes opens in the US on October 23, 2015 and the UK on March 4, 2016.
