Joss Whedon talks Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and super-powers
Gives an update on what they’ll bring to the table
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are fast becoming the most talked about superheroes of 2013, what with Joss Whedon adding them both to The Avengers 2 , and Bryan Singer casting Evan Peters as the former in X-Men: Days Of Future Past .
And while Whedon has been circumspect on how Peters’ casting will affect his version of the character, he has given an update on how the duo will fit into the Avengers sequel.
“Besides the fact that I grew up reading them, their powers are very visually interesting,” explains Whedon. “One of the problems I had on the first one was everybody basically had punchy powers.”
“[ Quicksilver ]’s got super speed. [ Scarlet ] can weave spells and a little telekinesis, get inside your head. There’s good stuff that they can do that will help sort of keep it fresh.”
We’re still waiting for a response to the X-Men casting, but it certainly doesn’t sound as though Whedon and Marvel are going to be backing down over including the character themselves.
Directed by Whedon, The Avengers 2 will open in the UK on 1 May 2015.
