Joss Whedon says filming on Avengers 2 will begin February 2014
Reveals he knew the plot before making first film
Joss Whedon has given an update on The Avengers 2 , revealing that he's had the plot in mind for quite some time, and confirming that filming will probably begin at the beginning of next year.
"We should start shooting I think in February," says Whedon. "I didn’t think I was gonna do the second one, but I had an idea for it before I had figured out the first one. You go into a movie not assuming that there’s going to be [ another one ]. I’ve seen plenty of movies that were the first part of the trilogy that never happened and it’s terrible.
"You don’t save anything for the trip back. Having said that, though, I did sort of know, ‘Well if they were to come back, I know what’s going to happen… it’s going to be awful.’”
Meanwhile, Whedon is also enjoying his role as creative consultant for the rest of Phase 2 , and is confident that the next wave of Marvel films is going to live up to the first.
"I’m really excited because I’ve gotten to look at everything and see behind the curtain on all the stuff, and Kevin Feige has a really clear vision and runs through all these movies," says Whedon. "They’re all very different, but they really are what the next story should be."
The Avengers 2 will open in the UK on May 1 2015.
