Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes lead in Sin City 2
Passes on Guardians Of The Galaxy
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has cleared up speculation concerning the identity of his next project by officially signing on to join Robert Rodriguez’s comic-book sequel, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For .
The star had been strongly linked with Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy project, but reportedly passed on that film in order to sign up for Rodriguez’s monochrome crime flick.
“I love how the first movie uses VFX, not to make fake things look real, but to create a heightened world unburdened by the look and feel of reality,” explained JGL of his decision. “Plus, nobody makes a badass like Mr. Rodriguez.”
Gordon-Levitt will play a character named Johnny, a cocky gambler harbouring a grudge against a sworn enemy. The part was originally written for Johnny Depp and is one of the roles that binds together the film’s various story strands.
JGL joins an all-star cast including Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Clive Owen and Rosario Dawson. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For opens in the US on 4 October 2013, with a UK date to be confirmed.
