Jonathan Glazer on directing Doctor Who
Plus: exclusive behind the scenes video...
We sat down for an extended chat with Jonathan Glazer ( Sexy Beast , Birth ) about his latest masterpiece Under The Skin ( read the full interview here ) and during our discussion, the director compared himself to Davros.
We made a mental note and, as it's sanctioned journalistic law that you're allowed to posit a cheeky question at the end of the interview, we decided to close by asking the art-house genius if he'd be up for directing an episode of Doctor Who . Then we went a bit giddy with glee over his initial answer.
You mentioned Davros, would you ever direct an episode of Doctor Who?
"I don’t know, I wouldn’t mind doing Doctor Who, actually. Though I think I’d ruin it. I mean, it would get into a different world, it would go somewhere else wouldn’t it?"
But before you get too excited and start laying bets on Scarlett Johannson for a future companion, Glazer continued...
"I like Doctor Who for what it is. I always have, since I was a kid. So, no, I think it should be what it is, it doesn’t need me."
It will be interesting to see what Ben Wheatley does with it...

"Yeah, it will. He’s a very interesting choice for that."
