Jonah Hill will appear in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained

After previously missing out on a role due to a scheduling conflict, a change in circumstances will now allow Jonah Hill to appear in Django Unchained .

According to Deadline 's report, Hill won't play the same character he was originally earmarked, that being one Scotty Harmony, a young man who is gifted Django's slave wife Broomhilda.

It's not yet known who he'll play, but given the revolving-door nature of Django 's cast (Kevin Costner, Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen have all walked away from the project), there's obviously a suitable opening for him in there.

If it were being directed by anyone other than Quentin Tarantino, we'd possibly be getting worried about 11th-hour casting notices like this, but judging from the Django Unchained footage we've seen so far , there's no need to feel nervous.

Hill's career is spiking to an insane peak: earlier this year he had one of the biggest comedy hits of his career in 21 Jump Street , and he'll soon shoot The Wolf Of Wall Street with Martin Scorsese.

After an uncharacteristically reserved turn in Moneyball (in which he held his own against an on-form Brad Pitt), it's pleasing to see him balancing the comedies and dramas.

Django Unchained opens in the UK in the UK on 18 January 2013, after a Christmas day bow in the States.
